Low Residue Foods, Menus, and More
This diet is temporary--It is not a lifestyle change
The last thing to keep in mind is that this diet isn’t a “lifestyle” change, it’s a physician prescribed diet that helps your GI tract to heal. It is only practiced for a short period of time and not any longer than medically necessary. If you are finding it hard to maintain the low residue diet, keep reminding yourself that it’s only for a short period of time. Doctors don’t recommend you practice this diet for any longer than medically necessary because of the negative side effects associate with a long term, low residue diet. These side effects include weight gain, constipation, bloating, malnutrition, and digestive tract upset.
