This Test Accurately Diagnoses Celiac Disease For Those Already Gluten-Free
The accuracy of the old tests
The old tests detected the disease in 9 out of the 10 celiac disease who consumed food containing gluten. These tests were only able to detect the disease in 4 out of the 62 celiac disease patients who were on a gluten-free diet. In comparison, the new test had 96 percent accuracy in distinguishing the patients with celiac disease from those who did not have the disease while following a gluten-free diet. In addition, it was also able to distinguish celiac disease patients from healthy individuals on a diet with gluten with an accuracy of 95 percent. This group included test subjects who followed a normal diet.
