This broadcasting legend publicly announced in early 2004 that he had diabetes, but he was already diagnosed with the disease 10 years prior. After his announcement, he also became a spokesperson for AADE (the American Association of Diabetes Educators). Later in 2004, he suffered from a stroke and didn’t appear on television until the eve of 2006 in the annual countdown. At 82 in 2012, he died due to a heart attack.
