Autism in 2017: The Year in Review

New partnerships in research and education

On the subject of education, the May Institute announced in December that they would be working with the United Arab Emirates to meet the educational needs of children on the autism spectrum. The May Institute’s international initiative is representative both of growing concerns over the lack of resources available to autistic individuals and their families, and of attempts to meet those needs. Recently, the State Employees’ Credit Union Foundation teamed up with ABC of North Carolina to invest $1.5 million in developing an autism treatment center in the state that would provide diagnostics and therapy for individuals.
