How Breastfeeding Helps Prevent Crohn's Disease

Study shows breastfeeding lowers Crohn's risk

Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, has released a recent study report that indicates babies who are breastfed show a lower risk for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in later life.

Researchers say the findings are applicable world-wide. Study participants were from North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. Most of the cohorts were Caucasian. Five of the studies under review were with Asians; and one was with Hispanics.
