Couple-Focused Therapy May Help with Sleep Apnea

The results

Nearly six in every ten adults sleep with their partner and above one-fourth of cohabitating or married couples say that sleep problems affect their relationship.

Ye and other researchers interviewed 20 partners to learn how the obstructive sleep apnea affected relationships and the use of CPAP. The main focus was on challenges, consequences, advice, and questions that the partners had on CPAP.

Two-thirds of the partners said that they usually sleep together. One-quarter said they rarely sleep together in the same bed since the use of CPAP started. The machine was used for about five hours each night.
