How Sleep Apnea Leads to a Lack of REM Sleep
Restoring REM sleep
There are a number of things one can do to restore a health REM. This includes:
- Maintain a sleep routine: Set up your sleep schedule and wake up at the same time each day. This will help regulate your body and get the right amount of hours of healthy sleep.
- Exercise: Always exercise regularly, but avoid exercising close to bedtime. Experts recommend a space of at least three hours between exercise and bed.
- Avoid stimulants: Stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine will lead to sleep deprivation. Avoid them before going to sleep.
- Meditation: Take time to meditate before going to sleep. Take a refreshing warm bath, read your favorite book, drink some caffeine-free tea, and avoid any activities that can cause tension and anxiety.
