Intimacy and Parkinson's: The Needs of Caregivers

Sleeping in different rooms and small gestures

Sleeping in different rooms or needs

A caregiver needs adequate sleep and rest. If your sleep is being disturbed by your partner, sleep in separate rooms or beds. Plan special times when you invite your spouse to your room. Just talk or cuddle. Cuddling might lead to sexual activity, but the closeness sometimes is just enough.

Small gestures are great

Try to give your partner a loving gesture. If communication is impaired, write notes and leave them in conspicuous places. Don’t give up on your partner, they have a special need for closeness.
