Is a Continuous Glucose Monitor the Right Fit for You?
But, with a CGM, you must also follow a few guidelines
For patients who qualify to use a CGM, there are a few things that they can do to make sure that it is working in their favor.
- Be sure to connect the CGM to any other tools that are being used, such as insulin pumps, diabetic management apps, and other tracking devices.
- Take the time to really learn about the technology and how it works. Be sure to ask any questions that may arise and work closely with the medical team to ensure that the CGM is a good addition to the treatment plan.
- Don’t rely on 100% accuracy all the time. If there is a reading that seems a bit off and the patient isn’t experiencing any symptoms, double check using the good old-fashioned finger prick.
