Managing the Mental and Emotional Toll of Diabetes
Challenges of patients in both work and school
At Work
People with diabetes find working and managing their disease stressful. Thirty-seven percent of the respondents stated that their disease has caused a number of work-related problems. Sixteen percent shared that they have felt discrimination from their employer because of their disease, and 7 percent kept their diabetes from their employers.
At School
Parents who had children with diabetes looked for schools where their children were allowed to test their blood and inject insulin during the school day.
