Multiple Sclerosis Wellness Toolbox
A personal approach to treating multiple sclerosis
At the MS Society of Canada, they know that, especially with summer being over, Canadians are settling into their usual routines, so they want to ensure that those with multiple sclerosis are taking proper care of themselves. Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis in the world, making it an especially important issue to them. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 340 Canadians live with the disease.
Because MS is such a personal disease and symptoms vary considerably from person to person, treatment options vary as well. Pharmaceuticals, for example, are good alternatives for many, while for others, they are not the right choice. It can be extremely hard to navigate at times, especially when one is busy with daily life, so the MS Society of Canada has come up with the MS Wellness Toolbox, tips and tricks that can be daily lifesavers.
The Vice-President of Research at the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada explains, "There are as many treatment plans for MS as there are people with MS. Everyone’s journey with MS is unique, as is their choice of treatments. Today, people living with MS have a variety of options, from diet and exercise to pharmaceuticals…We want to provide the best information and support that we can on all topics that are of interest to our community.”
