Study Alert: Connects Genes to the Development of Lupus

"Women with lupus cannot get pregnant."

Some people think that women with lupus shouldn’t get pregnant for the reason that they have a high risk of birth defects. Surely, it has been mentioned before that genes are linked with lupus. However, over 50 percent of women who have lupus give birth to healthy babies. Also, not all babies from mothers with lupus develop the disease as they grow older. Another thing, just because many women who have lupus had a miscarriage doesn’t mean that it is no longer possible for a female lupus patient to get pregnant.
