The Groundbreaking Tests for Alzheimer's Currently Being Researched

Discovering the early signs will lead to more understanding

Alzheimer’s disease is as of this moment not reversible.  The most common symptoms associated with the disease include the decline of memory, the ability to think clearly, as well as the eventual failure to carry out the simplest of tasks (both physical and mental).  The disease was named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer, whom in 1906 took notice to the alterations in the brain tissue of a woman that had passed away of an unidentified mental illness. Dr. Alzheimer’s findings ultimately paved the way towards the future of research pertaining to the disease.

As mentioned earlier, researchers are not quite sure as to the direct cause of Alzheimer’s disease, yet they do in fact understand the gradual impact it has on the brain. It has been proposed that most cases of the brain disorder occur well before noticeable memory loss occurs, with estimates of damage to the brain being present even a decade or more before memory loss symptoms start to show.  This goes to show that research focusing on the earliest signs of Alzheimer’s serves as one of the first key understandings towards preventing the disease altogether.
