Using Music to Help Unlock Alzheimer's Patients' Memories

The studies that show music's impact

Among the studies that further understood music's impact, 15 studies prove that relaxing music reduces the presence of cortisol (the hormone that produces stress) in people. They also cite other research that confirmed that participating in collective percussion sessions reverses certain effects of aging. But perhaps the most interesting discovery is a study where it showed that patients who listened to pleasant music before surgery showed lower levels of anxiety, even with patients who took Valium beforehand.
