It is safe to say that the vast majority of those with some type of MD will eventually need assistance in walking and moving. Therefore, wheelchairs, especially those that are electrically powered, are essential to those with the disorders. The use of wheelchairs will allow those with MD to move freely, care for themselves, increase confidence, and raise self-esteem.
Those with a wheelchair must also have access to a van that can accommodate a wheelchair. Though often costly, these vans allows for a higher quality of life in those with MD, as transport is often easier and less of a concern.
