Anxiety and the Fear of Going Insane
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, can cause those with it to feel as if they are losing their minds due to flashbacks, paranoia, or occasionally auditory or visual hallucinations. These are considered a part of psychosis, but are more in line with anxiety disorders than anything else. A psychologist approaches the issue by treating anxiety associated with PTSD, not psychosis. Trauma can have severe effects on the human psyche, but is both common and treatable.
