The Health Hazards that Often Come with Sleep Apnea

This is what experts have found

Evidence proves that poor sleep, or untreated sleep apnea, in the active years of life leads to the development of tangles and plaques that cause Alzheimer’s and dementia. Studies published in the Journal Brain discovered that middle-aged adults who do not sleep well, produce the protein beta-amyloid in a high amount. This protein is actually the building block of the plaques that cause Alzheimer’s. Sleeping poorly over long periods of time can increase the risk for Alzheimer’s, frontal lobe dementia and Lewy body disease. If that is not enough evidence that sleep deprivation is unhealthy, the University of Pennsylvania found that mice who went for long periods without sleep or had interrupted sleep patterns had dead brain cells.
