Lab Tests Show Molecule Appears to Spur Cell Death in Inflammation
Inflammation and tumor growth
In recent years, findings have been gathered to show how chronic inflammation plays a significant role in the growth of specific tumors and what preventative measures can be taken to disrupt inflammatory response of autoimmune diseases, such as Crohn’s disease. Developed by Duke Health researchers, a new drug-like molecule appears to trigger cell death in tumors. The molecule, known as Takinib, works by reacting to a cell-signaling protein called tumor necrosis factor alpha. TNF-alpha is a main contributor to inflammatory response in tissues.
