The Connection Between Celiac Disease and Depression
How lack of nutrition leads to depression
It is already assumed that most people who have celiac disease have to adopt a gluten-free diet simply because their bodies just can’t handle gluten like those without the disease. With this, another big question pops up: Do people adopting a gluten free diet have all the necessary nutrients that the body needs since their food consumption is very restricted?
Another study conducted by a Dr. C Hallert attempted to answer the question of a connection between malnutrition and a gluten-free diet. According to the study, the researchers concluded that adults who have celiac disease have to take extra vitamin B in their diet in order to stabilize their tHcy levels because celiac patients and those on a gluten-free diet often have a deficiency in vitamin B. Another study, which was conducted by Dr. Giovanni Addolorato, also linked a possible problem with blood flow for patients who have untreated celiac disease.
