Tips for Making a Parkinson's Friendly Home

Fixing up the bathroom

The bathroom is probably the first room that has to be fixed because it is where people do the most daily activities. This is where one can take a bath, brush teeth, go to the bathroom, dress up, put on makeup, etc. Since the bathroom is an essential part of any home, no doubt everyone will be using it every day, including loved ones with Parkinson’s Disease. There are a few adjustments that can make daily activities easier for the patient.

The first things to install are grab bars in all corners of the toilet. This is to ensure that the patient has something to hold on to just in case he or she has a hard time moving. Grab bars are also very useful if he or she may slip or trip. At the very least, he or she may grab on to the bar to not make the fall so bad.
