What Lymphoma Patients Want Others to Know

The need compassion, not pity

There is a big difference between compassion and pity. Compassion shows that you care for someone and hate to see them suffering. Pity, on the other hand, makes it seem like you feel sorry for the person and can even make people feel like you are looking down on them. The important thing to remember is that cancer patients often face a lot of unique struggles, so they don't need another in feeling like they are defined by their condition.
