The Real Origins of These 20 Strange Phobias
Ophalophobia: Fear of the bellybutton
Are you an innie or an outtie? Well, if you have ophalophobia, it does not really matter because you're afraid of both.
Ophalophobia varies between people. Some are afraid of only their own bellybutton, some are afraid of only others', and some are afraid of anyone's. The fear can be so intense that they will avoid touching their belly buttons at all costs, and will probably freak out if someone else touches theirs.
Think this fear is crazy or ridiculous and that no one would actually have it? Well, there are a few you've probably heard of such as Jenny Frost and Khloe Kardashian. Khloe even says that she hates touching her stomach in general just because the belly button is there.
There are many reasons people develop ophalophobia. Some are disgusted by the idea that something is stuck in there, others believe that if the bellybutton is disturbed then their insides could spew out.
So, we guess naval piercings are out of the question!
