The Very Real and Deep Depression of Celiac Disease

Foods to avoid

If you avoid certain foods, you will prevent disease celiac flare-ups, and the depression you experience will not be so debilitating. Some common foods you should stay away from include:

  • Any wheat or wheat products
  • Beer (most contain barley or wheat)
  • Farina
  • Graham flour
  • Malt, in any form (syrup, milk syrup, vinegar)
  • Pasta
  • Rye
  • Semolina
  • Teriyaki sauce
  • Read the ingredients to make sure there are no flour, barley, or rye components in foods.
  • Common Safe Foods include: (a very small list)
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Blue cheese
  • Brown Sugar
  • Most cheeses (check ingredients)
  • Coconut products
