Overworked Nurses Need Relief from Burnout
Nurse burnout involves three things: Dissatisfaction, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion
Burnout usually has three components according to Ashley Neuman, LPCC-S. These components are:
- Dissatisfaction with Personal Achievements: Some nurses feel burnout because they believe they are incompetent or haven’t achieved what they set out to do.
- Depersonalization: Depersonalization usually happens when you don’t care about the recipients of your care, service or instruction.
- Emotional Exhaustion: Physical and emotional tiredness is a significant problem for overworked nurses. You are more than just physically tired; you are emotionally spent.
Everyone experiences emotional exhaustion, lack of motivation and negative emotions at one time or another. Everyone has a stressful and terrible day, however, when emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, dissatisfaction in personal achievements happen every day, nursing becomes a problem.
