Since there is continuous muscular debilitation due to muscular dystrophy, the capacity of the diaphragm and other pulmonary organs to function reduces. Many children with this condition die early because of a complication in their respiratory system. One study that was conducted by a group of yoga instructors from the Sports Center of the University of São Paulo found out that yoga breathing exercises, which are often done with music, is very effective in improving the respiratory functions of patients with muscular dystrophy.
