Celiac disease does not seem to be an exception from this law. Antibiotics are known to kill not only harmful bacteria that cause disease, but also the good ones. Overuse of antibiotics may lead to intestinal dysbiosis, which may alter the local defenses and immune responses. Studies seem to indicate the relation between antibiotic use and a higher risk of developing celiac disease(8).
