This Video Game Improves Balance in Kids with Autism

More about the game's development

The game was originally developed by Travers along with the assistance of Andrea Mason, who is also a professor of kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Leigh Ann Mrotek, who is a professor of kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, and Anthony Ellertson, who is a program director of gaming and interactive technology at Boise State University. This combination of experts combined the background knowledge of gaming with insights into how they would impact balance, specifically for those with autism spectrum disorder.

The system that enabled the video game was the combination of a Nintendo Wii balance board, a Microsoft Kinect camera, and software specifically developed by the experts by using a Windows platform and Adobe Air.
