I have a 13 year old son who has recently undergone a stenting procedure in the aorta. Aspirin was given to him for 10 months, 100mg every day. Is this safe for him?
This is standard recommendation after placment of a stent to avoid clotting. This is the aspirin dosage usually used in Europe 100 MG. There are some concerns for stomach upset or ulcer related to aspirin therapy but one can also take antiacids and hydrogen ion blockers to reduce the acid effect on the stomach. Donald J. Thank you for the question. If you son was placed on Aspirin by his Pediatric Cardiologist, I would heed that advice and follow closely with his Team! I hope he feels good and recovers nicely.
Hi,
Yes, it’s quite common for cardiology to prescribe aspirin to children with heart condition as a blood thinner. Benefits in this case outweigh the risks. Many younger children end up on aspirin as a prevention of clots, especially before procedure.
All drugs have risk and benefits. This is what he would need to get get blood clots.
Yes, it is safe.

Probably safe. The usual dose is 81 mg, but not sure what procedure he had done in the aorta?
