• Blood test

I’ve been feeling very nauseous, dizzy, & have been getting headaches. I got a blood test and the results showed my hemoglobin and my iron were both in range. But my mch and mchc were both low. If they are low and I need iron, why would my results show I am in range? Should I be worried? As well I found it strange I need more iron if I eat a lot of things that have iron.

You should see a doctor for other possibilities for your symptoms, but these labs definitely show iron deficiency, consider iron supplement for now till you see your doctor, I can do a telemedicine visit if you want and I will take more history of your symptoms and direct you to the next step.
Thank you

Hi, do you have heavy periods? If so, you could be losing a lot of blood from your periods. Even if you eat a lot of iron in your diet, blood loss from your period could still cause low iron without anemia. If you were not taking iron, you may eventually develop anemia.
