Usually spinal or general anesthesia is used.

Yes, for many years I successfully provided epidural anesthesia with moderation sedation. For the past several years I have provided spinal anesthesia with moderation or light sedation. It is a more efficient process and a more dense block for lower body procedures. Spinal anesthesia generally will wear off in 1.5-3 hours. Great Question! Dr. Astbury
