I am a 42 year old female. I want to know if acupressure can cure diseases?
Acupuncture can
I don't think so. Diseases usually require a combination of two or three modalities (e.g. acupuncture, herbs, massage). I suggest you find a good acupuncture practitioner who practices all three to find the combination that works best for you.
I do acupuncture and stimulate the points with needles. I do not do acupressure
Cure is a pretty strong word…and Acupuncture can contribute to factors that relieve symptoms of disease.
Yes, acupuncture can cure migraine headache, sinusitis, trigeminal neuralgia, cough, flu, heartburns or acid reflux, IBS, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, Meniere's disease, bursitis of large joints, acute joint pain and swollen 2nd to soft tissue damage due to sport injury. acute neck pain and back pain due to muscle injury, menstrual cramp, PMS, Fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy due to chemotherapy, bladder infection, anemia due to excess period, restless leg syndrome, etc.
Yes. You can view the testimonials that patients gave me: www.aeonacupuncture.com/testimonials
We are not allowed to say we can cure diseases of course, but inherently Acupuncture improves the functioning of organs and the circulation of body fluids around the body. Disease is caused by a lack of healthy circulation in one area of the body, either producing a blood clot, a tumor, neuropathy, etc. So if you consider Acupuncture can improve the very thing that causes disease, it is feasible to say that. The best way to prevent disease though is by making choices on a daily basis that improve circulation, like regular Acupuncture, healthy eating, exercise, not smoking, etc.
One time, I treated a family friend, she was complaining of knee pain and because I didn’t have needles (acupuncture) on hand I resorted to acupressure. She didn’t feel relief, sometimes immediately with acupuncture & sometimes not. But months later, she did and her knee pain went away. She didn’t tell me until the following year or so though.
Acupressure can be just as effective, but it requires repetitive massaging at the acupuncture points and can less efficient than acupuncture where acupuncture can address more acupuncture points to treat while retaining that many more needles than acupressure can focus on. I believe acupressure can cure diseases, but I think it will be limited to certain diseases and much more minimal than the number acupuncture will be able to treat just based on the efficiency.
I could be very wrong because I do not specialize in acupressure, but if you find an expert that says otherwise I would appreciate the enlightenment.
Best of luck!
Live Happy,
Michael
Hello,
Thank you for your question.
Case-controlled studies have shown that acupressure therapy stimulates the body’s lymphatic, hormonal and circulatory systems. Acupressure also relieves anxiety and stress, improves sleep, regulates the digestive system, helps minimize migraines and headaches, as well as back pain and menstrual cramps. Applying pressure to certain acupressure points
can even induce labor. You must have heard of acupressure points, which help with motion sickness, nausea (after surgery or chemotherapy), as well as helping patients who suffer from insomnia. Therefore, as you can see, acupressure is a very good modality to treat the above conditions. I would be careful suggesting that acupressure CURES a disease, but it certainly helps treat many conditions.
Good luck with your health journey!!!
Cure is a very legal word but can acupuncture reduce symptoms and greatly improve your health, absolutely!
Acupressure is an effective technology to improve health if practiced by someone who understands this medicine. I only use it on animals (my own) and children who I do not wish to use needles on. Diseases are a western medical concept and these are different systems of healing that do not entirely fit with each other, as one sees the body as having parts and chemicals and acknowledges little else fully, and our system sees the body as a reflection of an unseen energy field... like trying to put a round peg in a square hole! Have I seen diseases go away, become "asymptomatic," or doctor's declare that the patient must have been misdiagnosed (because no signs of disease remains)? Yes. Many times. But make sure you find a FULLY TRAINED practitioner who isn't an acupuncturist and doctor/chiropractor who got their license from a weekend seminar of training... I would not let any of those inadequately trained people near me! :-)
It can help eliminate many pathogens.
No, I don't think so, acupressure is an adjuvant therapy, it can not cure disease.
If only muscular disharmony, yes.
No acupressure can not cure disease, but it can help reduce some of the symptoms related to certain diseases.
Acupressure can be very effective in treating several different types of conditions and diseases.
Legally, acupuncturists cannot claim that acupuncture cures any disease. However, it can help reduce or manage symptoms you’re experiencing.
Yes, it can cure some diseases.
The word 'cure' in a medical context takes on a very specific meaning and is, technically, regulated by the FDA. In that sense, no, no treatment outside FDA approved treatments 'cure' anything. I don't use a lot of acupressure. In my experience, it doesn't compare favorably to acupuncture in terms of time to relief of symptoms or the duration of relief from symptoms. Can acupuncture relieve symptoms? Yes. In fact, there's a lot of science behind acupuncture's use in a wide variety of health conditions.
