Using a good anti inflammatory cream such as voltaren along with massage will be beneficial. I also recommend a sturdy ankle brace such as a Don Joy ankle brace to be worn for 2 to 4 weeks

No, it can make it worse. Your ankle needs to rest and heel. Unless your doctor clears you for physical therapy do not massage a freshly sprained ankle.
