The main reason you are getting a deep cleaning is to help heal your current periodontal infection, so no you should not be getting any infection from deep cleaning.

You are more likely to get an infection if you do not have the deep cleaning done to manage periodontal disease.

If you need a deep cleaning, you already have an infection. The deep cleaning is done to cure it.

You should be afraid of getting an infection by not getting a deep cleaning. It is extremely rare to get an infection as a result of the deep cleaning. Normally, patients are placed on an antibiotic oral rinse after the procedure.
