If wearing soft contact lenses only use eye drops approved for use with soft lenses. If wearing gas permeable lenses, most over the counter drops can be safely used unless not recommended by your doctor.

In general, instilling eye drops while wearing comtact lenses is not recommended. The drops may concentrate preservatives used in eye drops, present a barrier to the drops or discolor the lenses. If the drops have lost their sterility the lenses may promote infection,
