My dental crown is stained. Can you remove stains from crowns?
Superficial stains can generally be removed. However, sometimes what may appear as stains to an untrained eye (eg: patient) may actually be tooth crown wear, crown porcelain chipping or even secondary caries/ decay at the junction of the crown and remaining tooth. Always best to confirm with your dentist!
External stain can be removed from a porcelain crown
Yes
This depends on how rough or porous the porcelain is and if the glaze is no longer there. Normally it can be polished at the dentist office and the stains can come off if the crown is not made of acrylic. Best,
Yes, crown behave similar as your teeth, stain can be removed by using whitening toothpaste and rinses . But it will never get whiter than the original color.
