Almost all the time, if it is only the nail is removed, then yes yo can walk. I usually as patients to bring a large shoe or slipper to the procedure. local anesthetic last usually 2-4 hrs after procedure. But I would ask your surgeon on the details of your concern.

After toenail removal, there are no limitation of walking. However, increased walking causes increased swelling and pain, which delays healing.

Walking after a toenail removal should be OK, depending how much was done. If there is a repair of the nail bed or a fracture of the toe is involved, this may change the course of recovery. I recommend you discuss with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for the recovery timeline

Hello,

Yes, you can walk immediately after that procedure. It just needs to be washed out and cleaned for 2 weeks and dressed with a band aid.

Absolutely. Typically most people feel significantly better after having had the ingrown toe nail removed. A small bandage with antibiotic cream is applied after the procedure, and my patients are allowed to resume their normal activities to tolerance.

Certainly but not a walking marathon. Nail surgeries generally do very well but can take time to heal. Try to be patient with it.
Good luck

Yes you can

  • Palos Heights, IL

Yes, with caution. All depends on what type of procedure, if it is done with laser or phenol, or if it is permanent. Most likely with proper padding and antibiotics with wide shoes for a few days will be sufficient to have pain reduction and able to walk. If you can have surgical shoes, this will be the easiest way to walk close to normal.

In general, yes. A great has to do with how bad the ingrown toenail was. If it was infected or was very painful before walking for a day or two might be beneficial to take it easy. Also, to reduce pain while walking a post-op shoe can help reduce discomfort because it reduces any pressure on the ingrown site. So, again, to answer your question, the answer is yes, unless
your doctor advises otherwise.

Absolutely! On the day of surgery, it is advised to elevate the foot until the next day. Follow your doctor’s instructions and you can continue with normal activity as tolerated. Acetaminophen is usually all that is required for any discomfort.

Hello,

You can walk immediately after a toe nail avulsion. There may be some soreness or pain after the local anesthetic wears off, but you should be able to walk.

Typically walking after nail procedures is not a problem

Might be sore a few days, especially if entire nail is avulsed.
