Can I get rabies from a cat scratch?

It is theoretically possible but highly unlikely. A number of conditions must be met. 1. the cat is rabid (and if it is, you would know and keep away from it), 2 the scratch must be deep enough to bleed and 3 the cat must have licked its claw very recently or the cat licks your scratch wound immediately after it scratched you.
