• Co2 narcosis?

Can a patient hospitalized for exacerbation of COPD appear to be sleeping soundly and then a couple of hours later be unconscious with no signs of distress from Co2 narcosis?

I would need more info to answer that. If CO2 level is high enough to cause loss of consciousness, the patient needs to be on a ventilator.
