Braces do not cause stains. If you are talking about white patches on the teeth, they are hypoplasia or decalcification that occur due to difficult hygiene around the brackets. Enamel hypoplasia can be treated by topical fluoride application by a custom tray.

The white areas will not go away and they can turn into cavities

Unfortunately, stains will not go away. You can try whitening and/or bonding to improve your smile.

They do not, unfortunately. You have to usually do fillings to get rid of those stains.

Some do. Most severe stains have to be treated by a dentist.
