I will have a root canal next week. I want to know if they give you anesthesia for a root canal?

Yes, usually root canals are done with local anesthesia.
They numb the tooth with a local anesthetic. Depending on the dentist performing the root canal, they may or may not have laughing gas to help with any anxiety.
