What type of foot surgery are you having? Is this surgery by an orthopedic surgeon or a podiatrist? Depending on the surgical reason one could get bulky soft tissue dressing. And a post-operative shoe Or depending on the surgical problem and technique a cast shoe or a short leg walking cast. Ask your surgeon.

Depends on the type of surgery. For fractures yes, for other types probably just a boot.

Hello. You need to discuss this with your doctor. This depends on the procedure. Often times a cast or splint is placed on temporarily and the fracture boot. The length of time and need for a cast depends on the procedure, bone quality, age, and activity. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck.

Not necessarily; why don’t you ask your surgeon? What sort of surgery are you having? A lot of foot surgery now, we use simple “post-op” shoe.

Not all the time, in my office, pt has surgery in office, under local anesthesia, no hardware is used, walking on the same day with bandage and surgerical healing boot or shoe.

A cast will be needed based on procedure and surgeon preference. I recommend you discuss with your surgeon your particular case

It depends on what type of surgery you are having. Most Podiatrists use soft casts for many procedures, but these still can not be removed and you can not get them wet after surgery. This is definitely something your surgeon should have discussed with you at the time of pre-op meetings and surgical discussions. If your surgeon was not thorough in discussion his treatment plan, you might want to get a second opinion prior to having surgery by that physician. You should call the surgeon's office to discuss the post-operative plan.
