• Does a popped boil with a hard lump still have infection?

I have had a boil for about a week. Yesterday I popped it open and got most of the infection out. Today it is still hard and lumpy in that area. Does this mean there is still infection?

If the area is still hard and lumpy after popping the boil, it might still be healing or there could still be some infection left. The body can make a lump while it heals. But if it hurts, is red, or feels warm, it could be infected. Keep it clean and try warm compresses. If it doesn’t get better, see a doctor.
