Laser treatment of varicose veins when used for ablation of incompetent veins doesn't hurt provided that appropriate local anesthesia is administered and a sedative can also be given if necessary. Different is the use of surface laser for treatment of spider veins, a procedure that can be performed using cooling technology and which then causes minimal or no discomfort during the procedure.
