It depends upon the pathology.
About 30 minutes
An uncomplicated colonoscopy could take 10 to 20 minutes. If biopsies have to be performed or polyps need to be removed it might take just a little bit longer.
Colonoscopy should not require general anesthesia. Simple IV sedation is most common.The procedure takes between 20- 45 minutes depending on the prep quality, the anatomy,and whether polyps need to be removed.
