I got a back trauma last week and will have surgery. How long does it take to fully recover from back surgery?

Everybody is different and the type of injury/surgery affects recovery time. However, I would give yourself a few months to recover and follow the doctor's recommendations.
6-12 months with PT/OT and acupuncture with Moxibustion.
