This all depends on what type of dislocation happened. Usually once the ankle is reduced you should be able to resume normal activity as tolerated within 4 to 6 weeks

This is a complicated problem. It depends on the patient but overall I'd say it takes a year to make a full and complete recovery.

If surgery is required open or closed will affect the healing time

It depends on what damage exactly was done during this dislocation. Were bones broken and needed surgical repair? Were ligaments torn? Do they require repair? Were tendons torn? Were any of the medial ankle ligaments torn or sprained? Basically, you may require one healing time of 3-6 months, depending on how the ankle needed to be repaired. If you did not have a surgical repair, and the ankle was simply relocated, it is highly likely you will have long-standing issues that may or may not require surgical attention down the line. The minimum evaluation you will require is an MRI to visualize the tendons and ligaments which might be damaged or affected by the dislocation. Furthermore, a minimum of 1-3 months in a cast or walking boot should have been initiated at the time of injury.

A dislocation means that the joint separated, and either popped back into place or needed to be put back into place. Either way, this is a severe injury and may take a year to heal. If there was damage to the joint surfaces, then further treatment or surgery may be needed.

This time frame can vary, depending on what other injuries occurred, such as ligament tear or fracture with the dislocation. A general time frame is 6-8 weeks

It can take 3-4 months to recover from a dislocated ankle as often times there are significant ligament injuries that need to heal.
