In general the first week is a little wonky, but most people see well enough to do most activities. One should be careful about working on a very dusty or dirty environment for the first week, as well as lifting anything heavy.

If you have what is known as LASIK, you'll see more clearly usually within 12 to 24 hours. It still takes time to heal properly so you should never rub it. If you have what is known as PRK, it takes a bit longer to heal so that it would take a few days before you see fairly clearly.
