I am 24 and have decided I never want children . What are the steps to ask a doctor to preform a full hysterectomy. I don't even want my ovaries. I keep looking online and I saw that you have to have a really bad medical reason to have a hysterectomy. What kind of information would I have to provide?
It's really about finding a provider who is willing to do that for you. Typically you would want a medical reason since surgery has its risks and surgeons don't typically want to do a procedure with risk when its CelectiveD. Additionally, there are long-term risks of early menopause without ovaries but it can be replaced with hormone therapy.
You would have to have a long term relationship with your Physician for them to consider planning a hysterectomy at your age. I hope you know that if you choose this route that you would go into an early menopause, and loose valuable natural hormones, especially estrogen and testosterone. There are possible bone loss and cardiovascular issues from an early hysterectomy and removal of ovaries. I would think that your Physician would have to show that your "endometriosis" was advanced, and they would most likely offer medical treatment before moving to the surgical treatment that you are proposing.
