• I have dizziness when looking straight up or down?

Right away, what I'm speaking about is not Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), when you point your head straight up or down. My issue is whenever I point my eyes too far upwards or downwards, my eyes hurt badly and I start occasionally seeing 'stars' or 'sparkles' as if I was having a low blood pressure episode / syncopal episode. I've had low blood issues all my life, so it may be related to that. I'm not really worried about a remedy yet - I'm just curious as to what this is called?

Also no, I don't mean actually forcing them upwards to the point of immense pain. I simply mean looking in the general up or down direction a tad bit too hard. Looking up makes me feel lightheaded once my eyes go back down from that position, and looking down makes me feel nauseous once my eyes go back up from that position. It's rather strange - I noticed this about 3 years ago but just thought it was nothing until it gradually got worse over time.

It could be an optical condition, such as neuritis of your optic nerve, or optical cellulitis from a possible infection around your eye, or even inflammation of the sclera. It could be uveitis, which is mostly caused by having bad decayed teeth Or it could be a neurologic cause, such as emotional stress. It can also possibly be a lack of vitamin B12, andor D3. Other factors can be as simple as dehydration, or too high or too low blood pressure. The only sure way to find out is to see an opthanilogist and a neurologist Major Larry Mahana, RN Emergency ServicesDisaster Preparedness Officer AZ Wing Ground Team PIO squadron304.esogmail.com personal larry.mahanaazwg.cap.govwork 480.406.0426 gocivilairpatrol.com httpwww.gocivilairpatrol.com azwg.org httpwww.azwg.org httpswww.facebook.comWillieSquad304 httpstwitter.comCivilAirPatrol?refsrctwsrc5Egoogle7Ctwcamp5Eserp7Ctwgr5Eauthor WARNING The information you are receiving is protected from interception or disclosure. I do not have a specific name for your symptoms as described. There may be a problem in your vision pathways and its input to the balance center in your brain, brainstem, and cerebellum. While psychogenic symptoms cannot be ruled out, I think it warrants an evaluation. Talk to your parents and have them take you to a Neurologist for a detailed evaluation.
