• I'm an adult on the autism spectrum. Help and advice needed!

How do I go about getting a diagnosis on paper without a job or any money so I can receive the services I should have been getting since birth? I found an article online about how "many adults with autism are unemployed" - that would be me. I have been unemployed for a year now. My vehicle is broke down and that's a big reason for why I am still unemployed - but if I had some services that I should be getting I could probably change that. I'm on my own and not sure how to get assistance and any advice would be helpful. Thank you very much.

It sounds like you are looking for government assistance with Social Security. If you live in the United States, you should apply to ssa.gov for information about services.

Try going to you local SSI administration office and apply for assistance. They will contact your doctors and do an assessment on you to determine your status. Also contact your county's vocational rehabilitation department to try and get some help with employment placement. You may also look into whether your county has an adult developmental services and contact them for further guidance. Good luck. Dr F. Sent from AOL on Android.
